Has anyone read the four parts of Darrens interview?
What do you all think?

I have read them. Nothing really startling comes out of them for me. They are a pleasant read. The usual question re sexuality is asked and answered (or not [img]wink.gif[/img] ) again. Also usual shouting down of anyone who criticises DH's responses next to those that sing his praises.
I bit boring really.

I can imagine that he's not saying anything that we haven't heard before though.

Yeah, I read it, quite a nice interview. I was going to make a post myself actually, there was a few things I wanted to comment on. Link is here for those who haven't seen it.

"In the song "Affirmation" I have a line about the relationship between oil and war. I was advised to take that out. That was really sad to me."
I'd forgotten all about this - does anyone know what that line actually was? I so wish they'd left that in now. *sigh*

What?! I agree with his original point here (the root of prejudice being fear of somebody different to yourself) but, jeez, those are two terrible examples. [img]confused.gif[/img]

Erm. Heh. I think Darren Hayes has issues with reality TV. [img]tongue.gif[/img] His latest PJ column is up by the way - and it's about America's Next Top Model (I know several people don't seem to like these columns, but I do and now apparently one other person does as well...!!)

As for the boring sexuality questions - they were bound to get asked - I agree with Sharon, his answers these days spell "bisexual" to me. Though, who knows, who cares (well, okay, a lot of people seem to, but not me).

OK I have found the answer to this thanks to Laurie who posted this in answer to someone else with the same question over on the public board.

"I believe we orchestrate world wars to keep gas prices low." And then he went on to say that he did not know the validity of that statement so he censored himself.

I agree that to use Scientology was not a very good example but neither is he actually endorsing it or any other particular religion, rather just trying to illustrate a point about prejudices.

I think in both these issues he is addressing the lack of mystery which surrounds artists these days. Do we really need to know everything about them and their private lives? Has too much daylight been let in and so nothing is left to the imagination anymore.

With regards to the 'usual' question, his reply was 'I'm not pretending to be gay, and I'm not pretending to be straight'. If somebody said that to me, I guess I would automatically assume them to be bi, but maybe that's just my way of seeing things. I honestly think that the truth is out there anyway, just maybe not in-your-face in the way journalists would like it to be. The rumours have dogged the man for years, so nothing would surprise me. And unlike too many out there, I would not be disappointed regardless (and I'm not just saying that, ok?).

I know a big deal was made of Brandon Flowers out of The Killers being gay or bisexual because of the ambiguity of his lyrics, then he got married and denied any gay relationships. Tom Robinson made a huge deal of being gay, then got married with two kids. Labels don't work because we're all different anyway! Its very hard, I would imagine, to be in the public eye like that, and have to deal with people wanting to stick a badge on you.

If any of this has offended anyone or broken any guidelines, please feel free to delete or give me a good slapping. (The slapping preferably as I could do with a good slapping right now!)

It disturbs me a little that $cientology was the first thing that came to mind for him at that moment *chuckle*

I think its because hes become all spiritual and into his own version of whatever religion Maddonna is into this week.
